There are beautiful hiking routes and many low-traffic roads and paths for cyclists. You can also go horse riding in the countryside thanks to the nearby riding centre.
The Trappenkamp adventure forest with nature play areas, wildlife enclosures and adventure trails is a great destination for children. Hamburg and Lübeck as well as various Baltic seaside resorts are also within easy reach.
