Lierna also has a particularly strategic position for visiting the area: Varenna is a few kilometers away and is easily accessible by car, train or boat. From Lierna railway station there are direct connections to the main towns on the eastern shore of Lake Como, as well as to Milan and Valtellina. From Varenna it is also possible to use the ferry service to reach Bellagio, Menaggio and the other towns on the western shore.
